Metrology Environnement and Risks

Objectives


At the end of this module, the student will have understood and be able to explain (main concepts) :
- the basis of the ISO standards dealing with both quality, environmental management, risks and safety aspects
- some aspects relative to environment laws and rules in France, and the tools to find legal information
- choice and the quality of metrology for the analysis of environmental impacts and/or process design
- the main environmental issues, the related impacts, the mechanisms involved, the consequences
- the concept of risk
The student will be able to:
- define a classified facility in environment protection ¿ Installation Classée pour le Protection de l'Environnement - (ICPE) and find the legal and environmental regulations for the relevant industry
- propose or use tools for the prioritizing the environmental aspects in a process or company
- select and apply the relevant methods for characterising compounds and/or pollution in complex environments, to make a critical analysis of both the methods and experimental results obtained
- analyse an environment risk, identify the types of impacts, describe the propagation of the pollution from the source to the environment
- analyse a situation of industrial risk, identify and calculate the physical and chemical parameters of the involved phenomena and propose technical solutions
- apply an ISO procedure dealing with both quality, environmental management, risks and safety aspects

Needed prerequisite


The whole Chemical Engineering course.

Form of assessment

The evaluation of outcome prior learning is made as a continuous training during the semester. According ot the teaching, the assessment will be different: as a written exam, an oral exam, a record, a written report, peers review...
