-       In-depth presentation of the heating system (heat production, emission, distribution, opertation)

-       Hydro-thermal performance of a heating system

Objectives

At the end of this module, the student will have understood and be able to explain (main concepts):

-       Thermal properties of construction materials

-       How to design the thermal envelope of a building

-       The hydro-thermal characteristics of a heating system

-       The pressure distribution in a network

-       The control strategies applied to heating systems used in buildings

 

The student will be able to:

-       Design the thermal envelope of a building according to the French standard

-       Analyse the functioning of existing heating systems

Design and size a heating system for collective housing

Recommended prerequisite

Heat transfer: basics (conductive, convective and irradiative heat transfer) and heat exchangers.

Fluid mechanics: static and dynamic of fluids, pressure loss calculation, pumps sizing.

Form of assessment

The evaluation of outcome prior learning is made as a continuous training during the semester. According ot the teaching, the assessment will be different: as a written exam, an oral exam, a record, a written report, peers review...
