Lectures accompanied of course material will be given to students. Tutorials are associated to lectures during which the students will practice the different concepts seen in class. A case study will be introduced and studied. Finally, the students will realize their project. At the end, students will provide a project report.
Objectives
At the end of this module, the student will have understood and be able to explain (main concepts):
- The different data models, their advantages and limits
- The languages : XML, DTD, and XML schema
- The language XPath
- Procesing language processing XLS
- XQuery query languages
- The Information Systems taxonomy (enterprise resource planning or ERP, custom/extended relationship management CRM/XRM, product data management or PDMs, etc).
- The best pratices for Information Systems management based on ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
The student will be able to use these concepts and principles to effectively implement an XML database :
- to design the XML database
- to enable XSL transformation of XML data into HTML
- to implement queries the database to support the XQuery language and verify their correction with expected results;
Moreover, the student will be able to produce a analysis study of a real information system in order to evaluate its qualities based on the ITIL best practices.
Needed prerequisite
Database Management, object programming.
Form of assessment
The evaluation of outcome prior learning is made as a continuous training during the semester. According ot the teaching, the assessment will be different: as a written exam, an oral exam, a record, a written report, peers review...
