Presentation
Programme (detailed contents):
-Stationnary regimes : electrostatics, electrokinetics, magnetostatics
-Variable regimes : Maxwell equations in vacuum
-Quasi-stationnary regimes : phenomena of electromagnetic induction
-Propagation of electromagnetic plane waves in vacuum
Organisation:
2 lecture sessions + 1 tutorial session + 1 lab work session per week
Working papers :
-Lecture manual
-Tutorial manual
-Lab work manual
Main difficulties for students:
Mathematical deficiencies
Objectives
At the end of this module, the student will have understood and be able to explain (main concepts):
the basic theoretical concepts of electromagnetism and of the propagation of electromagnetic plane waves in vacuum.
The student will be able to:
calculate electromagnetic fields from high symmetry charge and current distributions.
Needed prerequisite
Electrostatics (1rst year)
Form of assessment
The evaluation of outcome prior learning is made as a continuous training during the semester. According ot the teaching, the assessment will be different: as a written exam, an oral exam, a record, a written report, peers review...
