Programme (detailed contents) :

 

- Conduction in unsteady state (finite difference method). Radiative heat

exchanges inside enclosures (radiosity method);

- dynamics of viscous fluids, pumps

Organisation:

Heat Transfer: 9 lectures, 6 tutorials, 3 sessions lab-work

Fluid Mechanics: 9 lectures, 11 tutorials, 1 session lab-work

Objectives

At the end of this module, the student will have understood and be able to explain (main concepts):

 -          Thermal transfers in unsteady state and heat exchangers ;

-          Viscous fluid flows ;

 The student will be able to:

 

- Calculate balances for different enclosure heat transfers under real boundary

conditions;

- Design a heat exchanger;

- Design flow networks with or without pumps

Form of assessment

The evaluation of outcome prior learning is made as a continuous training during the semester. According ot the teaching, the assessment will be different: as a written exam, an oral exam, a record, a written report, peers review...
