  • The different steps in documentation research
  • The different types of documents
  • Documentation research tools : the internet, commercial databases, catalogues
  • Analyze the pertinence and reliability of a document
  • General understanding of copyright and plagiarism
  • Rules for quoting and writing a bibliography
  • Introduction to written and oral communication skills
  • Learning summary writing methods
  • Help writing a CV and a letter in order to apply for an internship
  • Management principles: references, processes, skills
  • Company environment, structure, functions, and characteristics

 

 

 

 

Organisation:

  • Class in lecture halls in half-class groups with distance learning workshops (Moodle)
  • Alternating classes and group exercises (10 weeks)
  • Tutored group work for written report and oral presentation (documentation project)

Objectives

At the end of this module, the student will have understood and be able to explain (main concepts):

  • Principles and tools of documentation research methods
  • Methodology of concise and structured professional writing (report and summary)
  • Effective oral presentation skills with visuals
  • Management principles, company structure

 

 

The student will be able to:

  • Define a bibliographic research strategy
  • Write a bibliography
  • Use basic documentation research methods
  • Write a structured, logical summary in an appropriate format
  • Give an oral presentation using PowerPoint
  • Write a CV and a cover letter applying for an internship
  • Describe the management process
  • Describe the decision-making process
  • Analyze a company’s environment
  • Analyze the strategic position of a company
  • Globally understand the functioning of a company
  • Explain their hierarchical position in a company during an internship

Form of assessment

The evaluation of outcome prior learning is made as a continuous training during the semester. According ot the teaching, the assessment will be different: as a written exam, an oral exam, a record, a written report, peers review...
