# Study of systems

## Objectives

At the end of this module, the student will have understood and be able to explain (main concepts):

Algorithmic:

The concept of an array, matrix, how to navigate through them, and combine them with record types to build complex data structures.

Industrial Engineering:

The interaction between: Industrial Engineering, Sciences, System in the life cycle of an industrial product.

The student will be able to:

Algorithmic:

Given an algorithmic problem, design a data structure suitable for it and code the solution in Ada.

Industrial Engineering:

1. Project of CAM (Computer-aided manufacturing)

The main objective is to use the numerical chain, to design and realize a part or a small mechanical system.

1. Module Friction and Assemblies
• Extend his (her) technological culture in mechanics, by analyzing conventional components,
• Conduct tests and compare them to a calculation model.
1. Module ASM (AMS) (Analysis of the Mechanical Systems)

Describe the functions of transmission and transformation of movements.

Programme (detailed contents):

Algorithmic:

• Array, matrix
• Mixed data structures
• Classical algorithms on these structures (find min, max element, compute average value, find an element satisfying a predicate).

Industrial Engineering:

Name activity duration Project of CAM the simulation, the programming and the implementation of numerically controlled industrial machines 6h Module Friction and Assemblies Discovery of assembly components, testing and calculations in order to measure friction. 3h ASM Analysis of the Mechanical Systems - the transmission systems of movement (gearings, training by chains and belts) - the description and the simplification of the functions performed by these elements - the plan block and the law input-output of the studied mechanism are presented 6h ESMA Study of the Automated Mechanical Systems To interpret and to design automatic systems of combinatorial and sequential logic as well as enslaved systems 12h

Organisation:

The learning is made in the form of :

• introductory course,\$
• tutorials in group
• lab works in subgroup,
• mini-projects,

## Needed prerequisite

Basic principles acquired in the first semester of the first year: logic, binary relations, combinational analysis, functions, differential equations, algorithms, Industrial Techniques(I1ANMT11, I1ANIF11, I1ANTI11).

## Form of assessment

The evaluation of outcome prior learning is made as a continuous training during the semester. According ot the teaching, the assessment will be different: as a written exam, an oral exam, a record, a written report, peers review...
