Fluid:

Viscosity - Navier-Stokes equations - dimensional analysis

– similarity - laminar boundary layer - turbulent boundary

layer - forces on immersed bodies - elementary

aerodynamics' - viscous flow in ducts

 

heat transfer:

Lectures and tutorials in heat transfer : - unsteady

conduction - advanced external convection (banks of

tubes, impinging jets, mass transfer and evaporation) -

convection in internal flows. Numerical simulation: initiation

to Fluent CFD software (tutorials).

Objectives

At the end of this module, the student will have understood and be able to treat problems in a great number of technical fields in which viscous fluid occurs.

 

The student will be able to use Fluent to simulate an experiment

Inviscid incompressible fluid mechanics
Introduction to heat transfert
Fundamentals in thermodynamics (1rst year)

Form of assessment

The evaluation of outcome prior learning is made as a continuous training during the semester. According ot the teaching, the assessment will be different: as a written exam, an oral exam, a record, a written report, peers review...
