PART 3

Each two-student team receives the data for a power

transmission problem including :

-    utilisation context, geometrical constraints

-    input and output data

-    expected service life

 

Each team has to produce :

-    a thorough sizing synthesis document for gears, bearings,

and shafts

-    a drawing of the mechanism

-    a CAD model of the mechanism

 

Organisation:

A teacher follows up each team and delivers guidance as

their works are going on.

Objectives

At the end of this module, the student will be able to analyse technical requirements related to the design of a gear reducer, create a design with the associated calculus, present their solution by the mean of both a draft and a CAD.

Needed prerequisite

3D CAD basics.

Fundaments on mechanical design : Basic rolling bearing pivot linkages, gear geometry (pitch diameter, addendum coefficient, contact length), design of parts for machining / molding / welding.

Analytical mechanics : 3D forces calculation.

Form of assessment

The evaluation of outcome prior learning is made as a continuous training during the semester. According ot the teaching, the assessment will be different: as a written exam, an oral exam, a record, a written report, peers review...
