Power transmission case study

Presentation

Each two-student team receives the data for a power

transmission problem including:

. utilisation context, geometrical constraints

. input and output data

. expected service life

 

Each team has to produce:

. a thorough sizing synthesis document for gears, bearings,

and shafts

. a drawing of the mechanism

. a CAD of the mechanism

Objectives

At the end of this module, the student will be able to analyse technical requirements related to the design of a gear reducer, create a design with the associated calculus, present their solution by the mean of both a draft and a CAD.

Form of assessment

The evaluation of outcome prior learning is made as a continuous training during the semester. According ot the teaching, the assessment will be different: as a written exam, an oral exam, a record, a written report, peers review...
