Research : objective innovation !

Over 400 researchers, faculty, PhD students and technical support staff work in the school’s nine laboratories, contributing to its international prestige. Three themes federate their work.

Biotechnologies and bioprocesses

The excellence of the research carried out at INSA-Toulouse in the field of biotechnologies and bioprocesses has been highlighted in the national survey published by the Institut Montaigne. The LISBP (INSA, CNRS, INRA) is cited as one of France’s leading public laboratories for its academic achievements. Recognising these high standards, large groups support the work of these researchers in water treatment, and the development of new bio fuels, food additives and medecines.

Design and recovery of nano-objects

Developing rapidly, the LPCNO (INSA, CNRS) brings together physicists and chemists working on the design of nanometric particles used in the health, environment and electronics fields. In partnership with the LISBP, its researchers are also committed to fighting the dissemination of these nano-objects, considered as risk factors.

Embedded systems and new materials for aeronautics

Interdisciplinary projects, notably in collaboration with the regional competitiveness clusters, can be undertaken thanks to the large range of competences present on the INSA-Toulouse campus. INSA researchers work closely with the partners of the Aeronautics, Space and Embedded Systems competitiveness cluster.

Research-informed teaching

INSA-Toulouse has chosen to provide an engineering education which interacts closely with research to enable graduates, during their professional life, to be a driving force in technological innovation. All students follow an ‘introduction to research’ module.

Courses in all fields are supported by research laboratories present on campus. Students opting for scientific careers can apply to one of the numerous Research Masters and continue with a PhD in one of the doctoral schools, partners of INSA.

Key figures
