Programme (detailed contents): Life cycle analysis. Environmental impact and energy. Carbon footprint and climatic change. History and energy of pre-industral technics. Industrial revolution. Energetic and resources of modern world. Chemistry without oil : transport and plastics. Water and agriculture. Inequalities. Corporate social responsability. Ethics of scientifics and enginneers. New economic models. 


Organisation: Lectures, group work on the life cycle of an object and reflection on an ecologic problematics.


Main difficulties for students: to synthesize disparate data coming from different sources.


At the end of this module, the student will be able to:



- realize the life cycle of an object

- know and use the order of magnitude, numbers, dates, concepts, names, unities, technologies, philosophes, models and organizations linked to ecologiucal issues.

- set the technical, historical, social, economic and philosophical context in a complex problematics linked to ecological issues, and extract important issues.

- make a quantitative analysis of consumed energy and/or resources

- transfer in a concise and clear way the conclusions of a study linked to an ecological issue.

Form of assessment

The evaluation of outcome prior learning is made as a continuous training during the semester. According ot the teaching, the assessment will be different: as a written exam, an oral exam, a record, a written report, peers review...
