Humanities and Social Sciences
Throughout their education, INSA Toulouse engineering students can take modules in the humanities and social sciences, for up to 25% of their course credits. Our main objective is to provide students with a rounded education so that they take into account the social, economic, ethical and cultural context of their actions as soon as they step into the professional world. In this way, we also help students learn how to communicate effectively with their colleagues from France and further afield.

EDUCATING A HUMANIST ENGINEER

Faced with ever-increasing inequality, the complexities of the socio-ecological transition, the potential of artificial intelligence, and turbulent times around the globe, the place of truly humanist engineers lies at the heart of the humanities and social sciences in INSA Toulouse, with the goal of building a society that is more equitable, more sustainable and more respectful of the living world. The Human Sciences Center is committed to fostering open-mindedness and critical thinking in INSA students, so that they integrate a solid humanist dimension into their professional activities. The center has a cross-cutting influence on students from all INSA departments. The main skills students learn include:

  • Communicating in French and foreign languages through oral presentations, report writing, documentary research and synthesis report writing, as well as communication activities as part of project and conflict management, presenting and summarizing technical and scientific data, and much more.
  • Participating in business management activities, including marketing, financial strategy, human resources, and legal aspects.
  • Becoming a humanist engineer.
