“HR Excellence in Research” label

The INSA HR policy has adopted the European Commission’s European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, published in 2005 to attract the best researchers to the European Higher Education Area by offering them greater recruitment transparency and career support practices. With this in mind, INSA has developed an action plan based on analyzing its strengths and weaknesses in all relevant areas.
In October 2018, INSA Toulouse received the “HR Excellence in Research” label from the European Commission for its Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R). The label was renewed in February 2023.

Career development plan

INSA Toulouse is implementing an ambitious and innovative project to support the career development of its staff. Designed around six topics, the project aims to consolidate and develop the professional skills of its personnel, while allowing them to acquire skills that will advance their career development.

“Training passport”, an INSA advantage: an initiative from our institution that provides staff members with 12 hours/year to take part in conferences, seminars or professional events supporting cultural and scientific awareness or innovative practices.

Flexible work schedule

Recent changes to the Organization and Reduction of Working Time system in France—ARTT—apply to all tenured and contractor administrative and support staff.

The current provisions seek to provide greater options for staff when organizing their working hours, so as to improve their work-life balance.

Organization of the working week

The full-time working week can be arranged over 5 days or 4½ days.

Organization of the working day

The average working day is 7½ hours per day, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Working hours can be tailored to suit individual needs, starting in the morning between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., and finishing in the afternoon between 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Working from home

Working from home is intended for staff (full-time or at least 80% part-time) whose activities can be undertaken remotely.

Several formulas are available, offering the possibility of working from home 1 or 2 days a week, on fixed or floating days.

Work-life balance

INSA encourages a proper work-life balance and adheres to best practices in terms of working hours:

  • Flexible schedules
  • Work-from-home system
  • 45 days of paid leave and 6 days of RTT (reduction of working time) full-time personnel
  • Respect for the right to disconnect
  • No management meetings on Wednesdays or after 5 p.m.
  • Option to switch to part-time work

The INSA Staff Association (API)

The INSA Staff Association organizes sporting, wellness, cultural and leisure events and activities throughout the year.

Open to active and retired staff as well as associated personnel, researchers and students, API offers the discount platform “Meyclub” featuring numerous leisure activities, reduced price tickets and low-cost vacations.

For more information, visit the API website.

Support for active mobility

INSA Toulouse supports initiatives that encourage active mobility. INSA personnel can benefit from:

  • partial reimbursement of their public transport subscriptions
  • a “sustainable mobility” allowance for using a sustainable mode of transport to commute (including bicycles, electrically power-assisted cycles and scooters, including rented or self-service equipment) or carpooling.

These subsidies may be cumulated under certain conditions.
The campus also offers secure bicycle parking and charging stations for electric vehicles.

Catering

There are multiple options to eat on campus: a self-service restaurant, a cafeteria and two dining rooms for business meals. Common rooms are also available for staff.
